How Hampton Soul Fest was Born & What You Are Supporting:
This special event begins with a very special workshop that takes place in Hampton Georgia! The Hampton Soul Festival Workshop is a music production program that teaches young adults how to produce an outdoor music festival. It concludes an epic outdoor performance.
The Hampton Soul Festival Workshop:
Created by Jessica Holter, Ascension Art Collective, and supporting members of The HIP Team. The Hampton Soul Festival Workshop is an 8-week program with results measurable by The Hampton Soul Fest and film documentation.
This shadow program works with young adults who have recently aged out of foster care, registered college students, recent college graduates, and emerging artists with interests and talents in music, film, visual art, and public service productions.
The Hampton Soul Fest is part of D'Wayne Wiggins (Tony! Toni! Tone'!) Youth Aid program, teaching professional-level live stage production, music, and multimedia technology. Our robust curriculum includes but is not limited to personal wellness (Music therapy, yoga, meditation, Qi Gong), outdoor production preparedness, original music score development, music business, band formations, vocal coaching, filming, video editing, media, and marketing.
As Artist-in-Resident at Wiggin's artist haven, Electric Church, located in unincorporated Hampton, our self-management and efficacy program ensures that participants are not only paid a fair wage, but also that communication, teamwork, commitment, accountability, business, and music skills development are impactful rewards of participation.
The primary workshop locations are Electric Church and the Old Train Station in Hampton, GA. Students also get access to professional recording spaces and music rehearsal locations.
